An error occurred while saving the comment Arnaud, thanks for your idea. Notifications is one area we haven't yet touched in the Structure. We'll look into it in the future.

An error occurred while saving the comment Caitlin, thanks for taking interest in this idea! We don't usually promise any dates on the upcoming features, so all I can say is that the next release is not going to have this one. As a workaround, I can suggest reversing the order of the statuses to achieve the desired result, as advised in the other comments here.
As for rolling up other values, that's a good request, which we'll need to consider separately.
Thanks!
IgorAn error occurred while saving the comment Peter, thanks - nice catch! I actually didn't think of using status rollup to push the "latest" status upwards. That case begs to be added as a "best practice" :)
An error occurred while saving the comment This is contra-intuitive, but what if you configure your status rollup synchronizer with the statuses in the following order:
In Progress
Open
DoneNow, since "In Progress" is the "least" status, the parent will go to "In Progress" whenever there's a child in that state.
Does this work for you?

An error occurred while saving the comment Lars, thanks for the idea. What we have in mind is a preview panel on the Structure Board - it would solve roughly the same problem. But we'll keep this one too.

An error occurred while saving the comment Hi Maxim,
I'm sorry, I cannot tell ETA for this feature. It's on our radar, but it's not currently in the works, so it is definitely not going to be delivered at least within next 2 months.
I advise for your decisions assume that this feature is not there.

This is actually 2 different ideas:
1. Simplify creating a new structure from template structure (remember cloning parameters + additional UI for quickly creating a structure)
2. Templates for new issues - as preset values for some fields, or a sample issue to copy from
Both ideas are very cool and we'll look into implementing them in the future versions.

An error occurred while saving the comment Thanks, that's a reasonable idea. We'll need to take it into mind during our next improvement run on the existing synchronizers.

An error occurred while saving the comment Thanks - valid point. Right now we show type and priority in the same format they are shown in the issue's search results table.
In the future, column extensions will allow developers to create micro-plugins to display any information any way they want: https://jira.almworks.com/browse/HJ-357
As a part of that, we may also make type optionally display the name.

An error occurred while saving the comment Thanks - this is a confirmed compatibility issue: https://jira.almworks.com/browse/HJ-1169
Hopefully we'll fix it in the next version. Sorry about that!

An error occurred while saving the comment Marilia, thanks for your idea - we will review how Structure works with Zephyr and will try to find the ways to make them work better together.

An error occurred while saving the comment Hi Tom, thanks for keeping up interest in this feature. At this moment I cannot tell anything except that it is "planned". We keep it in mind by so far the whole team is doing other tasks.
I just spent some time thinking about this feature - posted my thoughts to https://jira.almworks.com/browse/HJ-164
Indeed, it is possible to implement this through a synchronizer - it can even be a separate mini-plugin, as synchronizers can be supplemented from outside Structure!
Cheers,
IgorAn error occurred while saving the comment David, thanks for your comment.
Copying security level is also what happens when you use JIRA's Clone Issue action. We do the same. Setting a default level could also be considered elevation as it may expose information from the issue being copied.
With regards to this particular idea we're commenting, it's not about creating new issues, it's about making sure that all sub-issues and sub-sub-issues of X have the same value of F as X does.
Thanks!
IgorAn error occurred while saving the comment Peter, this feature won't make it into 1.6 and likely not into 1.7. However, as you can see it's one of the most voted, so it won't be left behind.
I can't promise feature release dates, but I can tell that we're expanding our team and increasing velocity.
For the companies that do their own custom JIRA development, it's possible to implement field propagation on their own using Structure API.
Sorry I couldn't provide a better response this time.
IgorAn error occurred while saving the comment Got it, thanks
An error occurred while saving the comment Walter, thanks for your comment. Could you please elaborate on the "extended implementation" - would you like to copy parent's field value to the children's *another* field?

An error occurred while saving the comment Chris, thanks for your suggestion - but I think it should be directed to the browser team or whatever software you use to to print to PDF, because Structure just produces the printable page, everything that happens after that is performed by other software.
However, we might consider exporting directly to PDF.
Please let me know what you think.

An error occurred while saving the comment Hello Julie, the "resolved" mark is not based on Status field, rather on Resolution field. I would suggest you to edit your workflow, and in the step where you go to Closed state, add an action to set Resolution to Fixed (or any non-empty resolution you like).
Hope this helps!
IgorAn error occurred while saving the comment Chris, thanks for posting this request. I just had another person ask for a special mark when the issue is In Progress - see https://jira.almworks.com/browse/HJ-855 :) This is to illustrate that everyone's needs are different.
As I mentioned in that issue, we won't add workflow-based marks so far because it would clutter the UI (a lot).
Additionally, the current "check" mark is based on the Resolution field. It is not dependent on the workflow. If you need to see workflow state, then just place a narrowed-down Status column as the first column - does it not solve this problem?

An error occurred while saving the comment Yes you can do that! To automatically track epic/story/tech.task hierarchy, install a GreenHopper synchronizer that covers all related projects. See details on the GreenHopper synchronizer here: https://wiki.almworks.com/x/mwBg
(We'll be releasing soon version 2.1 with support for the new epics in GreenHopper 2.1.)

An error occurred while saving the comment We have created an issue for collaborating on German translation: https://jira.almworks.com/browse/HJ-1109 - feel free to vote/watch/comment/add your translations.
An error occurred while saving the comment Wolfgang - thanks for posting this request. Structure is fully localizable, so if you're willing to make a German translation, that's awesome!
Please write me to sereda@almworks.com and I'll send you the details.Igor

An error occurred while saving the comment Lois, thanks for your suggestion.
Have you tried using "." keyboard shortcut? Hit "." (dot), and start typing the name of the action you need to perform. No mouse transactions, no scrolling - very efficient.
With regards to your suggestion, web applications usually don't overload right click to avoid interfering with the browser's context menu. JIRA is not an exception, and we follow JIRA approach here. (Besides, a right-click context menu wouldn't save you from scrolling if the menu is big enough.)
Does the keyboard shortcut work for you?

An error occurred while saving the comment By the way, you should be able to save the printable page from your browser, or move the table from the browser to excel with Copy-and-Paste
An error occurred while saving the comment Hello, thanks for your post. How would you like to have multi-line values in Excel? Obviously we'll need to increase the height of a row for it to accomodate multiple values. How would you like other values aligned vertically? (Top / middle / bottom)
I would imagine that when the heights of rows are different, it won't be easy to tell exactly which issue is under which (look at the printable page for example). If you have any opinion or suggestions on that, please share.
Thanks!

An error occurred while saving the comment It should - thanks for the update! Will keep this open until your update.
An error occurred while saving the comment Pat, is this issue still relevant? Please try Structure 2.0 and GreenHopper 6.0.6 or at least 5.10.x
An error occurred while saving the comment Thanks Pat - does GreenHopper set Epic/Theme field for the sub-tasks too? If so, the synchronizer sees the change and adds the subtasks under the epic, I guess.

An error occurred while saving the comment Thanks for the comment - yes, this is still an open topic! Tabs on the Manage Structures page is the first step to ideal structure management.
An error occurred while saving the comment Angell, thanks - the work to improve Manage Structures page has already started. First we'll make it similar to Manage Filters page (favorites, search, shared).
We'd love to hear your feedback when it's done - and based on that proceed to further improve convenience of managing hundreds of structures.
An error occurred while saving the comment One possible implementation idea: have a special issue type and create one issue of that type per structure - then use structure to organize those issues as a hierarchy

Martin, thanks for the friendly nudge :) We're currently actively working on https://jira.almworks.com/browse/HJ-357 - it will be the basis for formatting options, as well as calculated fields.
