link an issue into structure by parent/child issue key
when in an issue, directly link it in structure as child/parent to another issue, using the issue key.

Pieter: did you check out version 0.4+? We have new Search, and also Cut/Paste. Please let me know if you think the association of a parent issue and a sub-issue is still inconvenient.

Jo, thanks for your comment. This is actually done in Structure 0.4 or later via "Links" synchronizer that you can set up for your structure. Use Manage Structure page to set up synchronization. Documentation is coming soon.

Suggestion: allow administrator to set which "linktypes" are automatically detected as sub-issues

Pieter, thanks for your suggestion. Problem is understood - please wait for version 0.4 where we have a different way to search for issues and place them in the structure. This problem may not be completely addressed in 0.4, but I would like to hear your feedback then about what became easier and what didn't.

Today, the only way to structure something is to create a new issue as a child in the structure view, or to drag/drop an issue relative to another issue. that is pretty painful when trying to associate an existing issue with another one. That also applies to bulk changes, where I'd like to link a set of issues to a structural parent issue.
