Allow you to wrap text in a column in the structure view.
I would like to be able to see 6 columns and have the option to see ALL the text wrapped not just the starting text. I'd like to retain the option to just see the starting text too though. I have used the full screen real estate but I can still only see the start of the wording.
Current work around is to only have 1 or 2 columns showing at once and add in the others as necessary later.
e.g. View currently shows:
Summary Description Labels Components Assignee
Client Doc Data in clie Docum Disclosure Sarah Sm
I'd like to see a layout like (not sure if this will work on here)
Summary Description Labels Components Assignee
Client Data in Docum Disclosure Sarah
Documentation client docs entation Smith
Many thanks
at least partial solution shipped with Structure 4.2, see comments

Hi Jennifer,
Unfortunately no, there are no changes planned here. As a workaround, you can export data to excel and change the width there.
BTW, do you really need to print it? Probably the Perspective link or sharing the dashboard gadget in Jira or in Confluence will help? Thanks!

Has there been any progress with this request? Would be very helpful to not need to export to a printable page whenever you'd like to see all text (for example, when you're reviewing the structure in a meeting)

Horizontal scroll feature is a good start but I'd still really like to see text wrap in a column.

Hello
We've just released 5.0 version with horizontal scroll feature, please take a look! You can see all data in the cells in this mode, https://wiki.almworks.com/x/ggAjAw
Thank you!

Hi Tim,
Thanks for the information. The "Summary" column -- the main column that shows the hierarchy -- respects line breaks when showing Description in the pop-up. (But you need to turn on the option to show the description in this column.) Other columns seem to eliminate the line breaks.
We'll need to work on improvement here. I'll open a request and we'll update this record once this is done.
Thanks again for the feedback, and sorry for the current inconvenience.

Thanks Igor. I have 2 scenarios. First is that with Description field, and the workaround #2 helps in that case (double-click field to show editor). Second case is with a Scripted Field, and because that is read-only, the editor pop-up is not an option, so we are relying on Printable Page. Should the hover work for Description and/or Scripted field? FYI - we currently use Structure 4.5 with Jira 7.5

Hi Tim,
Thanks for your comment and sorry for delayed reply. It might be the case that line breaks are removed. Are you looking at issue Description or some other field? If it's a custom field, what is its type?

Trying to understand the expected behavior of the partial solution in v4.2 with regards to hovering over a field that includes line breaks (e.g., a long description with multiple paragraphs). The hover is showing this as a single long wrapping paragraph instead of multiple paragraphs with line breaks. Is this a bug or working as designed? I am currently looking at 2 workarounds to show the multiple paragraphs as expected including line breaks
(1) use the the Export > Printable Page [StructurePrintable.jspa]
(2) double-click the field to show the editor [doesn't work for read-only fields] -
Hi Simon,
Thanks for your perspective. The further improvement is still on the table, but we still need to work out how this could work without disrupting the user interface.
Kind regards,

We would really like to have this feature. Hovering is not really what we want since we are reviewing the content in a meeting. People need to read at their own pace. They should all be visible at once. Thanks.

This is great news Igor. Thank you. The timing is perfect. I was just entering a feature request for this and then found this by searching the ideas page. This will be highly beneficial for us as we have to click into the field and a lot of times scroll to the right to see the full value.
Again, thank you. We will upgrade very soon. We are currently on 4.1.
Thanks,

Good news!
Structure 4.2 just shipped with the feature that shows the full content of a cell on hover. I understand that for some it may be not an ideal solution, as not all cells are shown at once, but I hope it should help a bit.
It would be great if you tried the new version and commented whether the solution is good enough or needs more work.

Thanks for your comment. No update yet, but please keep your votes and comments coming -- they do help us bring more attention to this feature.
Thanks!

Any updates to the word wrapping in the columns? This would apply to the dashboard gadget as well. The JIRA dashboards already word wrap but don't have the capability of Structure add-on. It would be nice to have this as this will be a deciding factor on whether to purchase the add-on.

Hi Pat,
Thanks -- that is one of the possible features to address this problem. I've just just raised its priority in our internal JIRA, so we might get to work on it sooner.

Hi Igor,
I was hoping this suggestion/idea would be to give you the ability to hover over fields like Summary, fixVersion,Sprint so you can see the full content without having to click into it. This would be extremely useful when doing backlog grooming or going through the plan with people. Thanks,

Matthew, thanks for the good feedback!
From your comment I read a somewhat different feature than the one discussed here. Basically, you want to take a structure with all JIRA fields, as it is shown now, but then be able to add some notes and/or color in individual cells (which of course would required them to be bigger). And that would be the basis for a presentation.
Is that correct?
Kind regards,

So the underlying need here is that big organizations often have update meetings to management and they often have PowerPoint foils that all look about the same...
Item | Owner | Due Date | Status | Comments
--------------------------------+--------------+----------------+-------------+--------------------with various adds like maybe "risk" and Scheduled vs actual or something. All these are tables that have the cells with multi line so that the "comments" have a little bit to say, not an essay but not also 24 characters max. The optimum is that we can literally present the structure REAL issue status in the meeting instead of having to export/generate with some script or hand maintain & update these slides all the time. It would make the structure "presentation" view the center. This would also raise a request for COLOR highlight ability to draw attention to slipped dates and stuff. Note also a "full screen" or something to hide all the browser and buttons and have a clean view for management, but that's another story.

Hello Cesar,
I can't give you any specifics at this time, sorry. Structure 3.0 is coming soon so please bear with us until then. Meanwhile, issue details panel is a kind of an alternative, although it would require a larger display to be super useful.
Kind regards,

My Org is also evaluating the Structure Plugin and this is among our biggest concerns. Any idea when this is rolling out?
