Allow more advanced calculations to determine progress
Allow more advanced calculations to determine progress.
Not all User Stories or tasks are equal. The current calculation is a percentage of total tasks/stories. We should be able to weight the calculation based on Story Points, or any other field which contains a numeric value within the story.

Hi Pat, we're working on https://jira.almworks.com/browse/HJ-357 now and we'll add story points-based progress either as a part of this feature, or in the next step.
There's still no ETA for the public version with this feature, sorry.

This just came up here at QAD. We would find having the Progress bar be based on Story Points be most useful than remaining time because we don't typically put time estimates on stories until they are being planned but we do put story points on stories throughout the whole project or release backlog. This would give us an overall progress view of the whole project or release and not just a current sprint. Thanks. Pat

Ok, thanks - I will merge your idea with that one then.

Yes. I am refering to the progress column, it now shows progress based on number of stories only, rather Rally shows both progress based on number of stories and also number of story points completed out of total story points.
Any progress should show both %done based on story points as well as number of stories to get the real picture of the aggregate level entity.

Thanks for your idea. Could you please elaborate, are you referring to the Progress column, or would you like another column that shows the aggregates? How would it work? (Can you point to the relevant article in the Rally docs?)
Is this request perhaps similar to http://structure.uservoice.com/suggestions/2855895 ?

Ran, thanks for your idea!
Right now the calculation uses Remaining Estimation or Original Estimation as weight, if those are available - see http://wiki.almworks.com/x/agBg
I agree it would be great to be able to use other fields as weights.
